Therapeutic Services
What are Nurses and CNAs?
A registered nurse (RN) and a certified nursing assistant (CNA) both help take care of patients, but they have different responsibilities. A registered nurse checks patientsโ health, gives medicines, helps create care plans, and works closely with doctors to treat illnesses and injuries. A certified nursing assistant helps patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and moving around. CNAs also check simple things like temperature and blood pressure and report changes to the nurse. Both jobs are important because they help keep patients safe, comfortable, and healthy in places like hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes.
What do students in the Therapeutic Services program at JRTI do?
Students experience what itโs like to work as a unit, make policy, use critical thinking to discuss ethical and medical scenarios, and educate the community around them. Students learn hands-on skills through working in health care facilities during on-site clinicals. They learn how to measure and record vital signs. They also practice nursing assistant skills, first aid, CPR, medical terminology, as well as patient care such as bathing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
